A university student was shot dead in public by miscreants in Khulna. The deceased student has been identified as Arnab Kumar Sarkar (26). He was an MBA student at Khulna University.

The incident took place at around 9 pm on Friday (January 24) at the Tentultala intersection on KDA Avenue Road in Khulna city.

It was learned that the deceased Arnab Kumar Sarkar is the son of Nitish Kumar Sarkar, a resident of Basupara Collegiate School in the city.

Quoting locals, Sonadanga Police Station said that Arnab was sitting on a motorcycle at the Tentultala intersection in Sheikhpara and drinking tea at around 8:45 pm. At that time, a group of 10 to 12 terrorists shot him and quickly fled the scene. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the private Khulna City Medical College Hospital. After conducting tests there, the doctor on duty declared Arnab dead. Although the cause of the murder was not immediately known, police recovered bullet casings from the scene. However, no one could be arrested in the incident.

Head of the Department of Business Administration of Khulna University, Professor Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan, Provost Professor Sharif Mohammad Khan and Director of Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Nazmus Sadat said that Arnab is a master's student of the Business Administration discipline of Khulna University. His roll number is 230317. His father's name is Nishit Chandra Sarkar. He is a resident of 45/3 B Abu Ahmed Road, Sonadanga.

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ahsan Habib (Media and CP) said that Arnab was shot by terrorists at Tentultala intersection around 9:15 pm. He was first taken to City Medical College Hospital. Later, when he was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital, the doctors declared him dead. Police seized bullet casings and blood-stained sandals from the scene.

Khulna Metropolitan Police ADC (Media) Mohammad Ahsan Habib confirmed the truth of the murder. He said that the police are working to find those involved in the murder of the university student. However, no complaint has been filed with the police station yet.
