President lied about former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation letter. Adviser on law, justice and parliamentary affairs Asif Nazrul commented that the President Md. Sahabuddin has broken his oath by making contradictory statements about Sheikh Hasina's resignation.

The law adviser said this in response to a question from journalists at the secretariat on Monday (October 21).

When asked about the President's statement on the issue of Sheikh Hasina's resignation letter, Asif Nazrul said that there is a question whether she has the qualifications to hold this post or not. If he sticks to his statement then the matter will go to the Advisery Council and further decision will be taken.

He said that the judges of the Supreme Court have given an opinion. The President is contradicting himself. He has no right to remain in this position. In his speech, he said that Sheikh Hasina has resigned. How do you say this after two and a half months? He cannot hold the presidency.

Recently, in an investigative report by Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, editor-in-chief of Daily Manabzamin newspaper named 'Janatar Chokh', there is no documentary evidence that the Prime Minister has resigned. Wide discussion and criticism is going on across the country.

According to Matiur Rahman Chowdhury's investigative report, President Md. Sahabuddin said, the resignation letter of the former prime minister? I heard she resigned. But I don't have any documentary evidence. I have failed despite many attempts. He might not have time. At 10:30 am on August 5, Bangabhaban received a call from the Prime Minister's residence. It is said that the Prime Minister will come to Bangabhaban to meet the President. After hearing this, preparations started at Bangabhaban. Within an hour the call came that she was not coming.

The President said, there is news of unrest all around. I don't know what's going to happen. I can't sit around depending on rumors. So I asked Military Secretary General Adil to inquire. He had no news either. we are waiting I am also watching the television scroll. No news anywhere. At one point I heard that she left the country. She didn't tell me anything. I told you what is true. Anyway, when Army Chief General Waqer came to Bangabhaban, I tried to find out whether the Prime Minister resigned or not? Same answer. I heard she resigned. It seems that she did not have time to tell. When everything came under control, one day the Cabinet Secretary came to collect the copy of the resignation letter. I told him, I am also looking. At one point, the president said, there is no more debate about this. It is true that the Prime Minister has left. Still, I have taken the opinion of the Supreme Court so that this question never arises.

Following the reference sent by the President, the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan gave their opinion on this on August 8. It said that an interim government may be formed to fill constitutional vacuums in situations that may arise and to carry out the executive functions properly. The Appellate Division opined that the President can administer the oath to the Chief Adviser and Advisory Council of the Interim Government.
