Rohingya Crisis: Foreign Aid Drops

Refugee, Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said financial support for the Rohingya has decreased as the international community's attention has shifted.

He said this while addressing the chief guest at a discussion on 'Integrated Approach to Eye Care in Humanitarian Context: Lessons and Best Practices' at a hotel in the capital on Sunday (October 20). Orbis International and The Financial Express organized the event.

Mizanur Rahman said that as the Rohingya crisis has been prolonged and the attention of the international community has shifted, the financial support for the Rohingyas has decreased and Bangladesh is in a financial crisis to continue the programs for them.

He said, we have shouldered the responsibility of the international community including the United Nations. We are working for them. But now they are forgetting us.

Mizanur Rahman said that the number of health centers in Rohingya camps has decreased from 160 to 120 and due to the financial crisis, the existing health centers have also been forced to reduce their services significantly.

He said international organizations working for the Rohingya community are also facing financial constraints.

The event was attended by representatives of Orbis' partners in the Rohingya program, local and international non-governmental organizations working for the Rohingya community, and relevant government institutions.
