Dhaka: Dhaka Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar has announced his resignation in the face of the agitation of a group of students who failed in the HSC examination. He will submit his resignation to the Ministry of Education on Monday (October 21) morning.

He confirmed this information to the media on Sunday (October 20) night.

It is said that he made this announcement to the students who were in the board.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar told the media that the students have asked for my resignation. If I resign, if they suspend the movement, I will resign. I will submit my resignation letter tomorrow.

As of writing this report at around 9 pm, the failed students are protesting inside the board. It is said that they will stay there until their demands are met.

Earlier, a group of students protested and blockaded the premises of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board premises from noon to night on Sunday.

The students said that they were attacked during the protest. A few students were injured in the attack.

On the other hand, the officials of the board say that some students entered the building and vandalized the room of the Chairman of the education board.

On October 15, the results of this year's HSC and equivalent examinations were published. The average pass rate in 11 education boards is 77.78 percent.

According to the result information, 14 lakh 50 thousand 790 students filled the form to participate in HSC and equivalent examinations this year. 13 lakh 31 thousand 58 students participated in the examination. Among the participating students, 10 lakh 35 thousand 309 passed. Among them, 1 lakh 45 thousand 911 got GPA-5 across the country.
