‘The High Court will take action against the accused judges’

Law adviser Asif Nazrul said that the High Court will take action on the accused judges from now on.

He said this while talking to reporters on the sixteenth amendment verdict at the secretariat on Sunday (October 20) afternoon.

Asif Nazrul said in response to the questions of the journalists that there are various allegations against some judges, the accused judges have become oppressive instruments of the fascist forces. Some are also accused of corruption. There is a lot of anger among the students about them. He said, as the Supreme Judicial Council was revived, there was an opportunity to resolve those issues constitutionally. However, the High Court is completely independent, so their action will be taken by the High Court. The law adviser said, by upholding the verdict of repealing the 16th Amendment, the forum for ensuring accountability has got an opportunity to be revived.

Earlier, the Appellate Division disposed of the review petition for the repeal of the Sixteenth Amendment of the Constitution. In this, the power to remove judges has been retained in the Supreme Judicial Council.

Commenting this verdict as positive, Asif Nazrul said that the accountability of the High Court judges will be ensured. There are many complaints about some judges. They became oppressive instruments of fascist power. Some are also accused of corruption. There is a lot of anger among the students about them. Therefore, the Supreme Judicial Council can take the removal initiative if it receives any complaint regarding their removal.

He also said, now that the Supreme Judicial Council has been revived, there has been an opportunity to resolve those issues constitutionally. However, the High Court is completely independent, so their action will be taken by the High Court.
