BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at the 'London Clinic' in the UK, is eating home-cooked food. Acting chairman of the party's son Tarique Rahman has brought home-cooked food for her.

A video of Tarique Rahman bringing food to the hospital for her mother was uploaded on the Facebook page of the BNP's media cell at around 11pm Bangladesh time on Friday (January 10).

The video's caption reads - Tarique Rahman and Dr. Jobaida Rahman are bringing home-cooked food for Begum Khaleda Zia in the hospital.

The 43-second video shows Tarique Rahman and Jobaida Rahman coming to the hospital with several boxes of food. UK BNP leaders and BNP executive committee member Tabith Awal are also seen. 

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has built a barbed wire fence along the zero line of the Dahagram border in Lalmonirhat without informing the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). This has led to extreme tension as the BSF and BGB have deployed additional troops on the border.

The fence was installed about half a kilometer from the border between sub-pillars 46 and 37 of the Bangladesh-India main pillar DMP 8 since Friday (January 10) morning.

According to local sources from the BGB and the border, BSF members from the Karun camp of the 6th Raninagar BSF battalion in Cooch Behar state, India, have installed a barbed wire fence at the very end of the 150 yards of the zero line in violation of international border law. The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has installed a fence between sub-pillars 46 and 37 of the Bangladesh-India main pillar DMP 8 of the Dahagram border in Patgram upazila. About 30/35 construction workers installed a barbed wire fence about 4 feet high between posts made of iron angles.

Locals saw these being installed at the last 150 yards of the zero line and informed the BGB. Members of the Panbari and Dahagram camps of the Rangpur 51 BGB Battalion went to the spot and stopped the installation of the fence. Although the construction work was stopped for some time, later several hundred BSF members and people started working on the fence again.

Indian authorities have deployed numerous BSF members on the border in view of this incident. The BGB was also seen taking a cautious position on the entire Dahagram Union border. Tension is prevailing on the border. Local residents are panicking.

Assistant Director (AD) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Rangpur 51 Battalion Amir Khasru said that the BSF was stopped due to the construction of the barbed wire fence on the border. When it was stopped at first and started again after a while, a tense situation arose. In addition to increasing surveillance at the border, higher authorities have been informed of the matter

On charges of negligence in duty, the officer-in-charge (OC) of the capital's Uttara Purba Police Station Md. Mohibullah has been withdrawn and attached to the police headquarters.

The current OC was withdrawn in the case of former OC Shah Alam's escape from Uttara Purba Police Station. Earlier, ASI Sajjad was temporarily suspended in this incident

In addition, the DMP issued a red alert in the case of former OC Shah Alam's escape. The police have also filed a case against Shah Alam on charges of escape.

On Thursday (January 9), former OC of Uttara Purba Police Station Shah Alam, who was arrested in a murder case, fled the police station.

It is learned that Shah Alam was an accused in several cases, including murder, during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5. He joined Uttara Purba Police Station on August 1. OC Shah Alam served as the OC of Uttara Purba Police Station during the last period of the anti-discrimination student movement. He was last working as an inspector at the In-Service Training Center in Kushtia.

Bhola: For the past 15 years, the people of the country have been subjected to extreme oppression and torture under an unprecedented fascist and mafia rule, said Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Committee and the general secretary of the July Smriti Foundation.

He said that the people of Bangladesh have fought hand in hand and expelled the autocratic Hasina government from the soil of Bangladesh. That is why the people of Bangladesh want to see the autocratic murderer Hasina tried first in the declaration of the 24th uprising.

He said these things at a road meeting at Hilsa Fountain Square while distributing leaflets in Bhola town on Friday (January 10).

The secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation said that the most important thing is that the declaration should clearly state the trial and punishment of those on whose orders so many people, including the murderer Hasina, were killed and bloodied. We have spoken to people from all classes and professions; they have expressed solidarity and stated that our 7-point demand is reasonable.

Sarjis Alam said that the anti-discrimination student movement should first express a clear commitment to ensure justice for the Awami killers and accomplices in the student uprising in this manifesto. The declaration should mention the sacrifices of the working people of every district and upazila. This should not be about a few.

He also said that the murderer Hasina has set up a syndicate in Gopalganj. Her family had set up syndicates in every place and snatched away the rights of the people. The people of Bangladesh want to end them and see a Bangladesh of equality.

The general secretary of the July Smriti Foundation, demanding trial for the former Bhola police superintendent, said that Jasim Uddin died in police firing in Bhola during the non-cooperation movement called by the anti-discrimination student movement. Former Bhola police superintendent (SP) Md. Mahiduzzaman should take responsibility for his death.

He also said that the SP, police officers and constables should take responsibility for those who were shot by the police during the movement, including Jasim Bhai. Any police officer involved in this murder must be found. They must be brought to justice. Their punishment should not be just a transfer.

Stating that the people of this island have been martyred the most in the movement to overthrow the government, Sarjis said, we think that distance from Dhaka city can never determine the priority. Priority is determined by how much sacrifice someone has. Bhola is one of the first districts of Bangladesh in that sacrifice, the district of 'Bir'.

Earlier, Sarjis distributed leaflets at Bhola Sadar Road and Bangla School intersection as part of the mass communication of the anti-discrimination student movement to create public opinion for the July Revolution declaration. In addition, he met the family members of Jasim Uddin, a martyr who was killed in Bhola during the anti-discrimination student movement, expressed his sympathy and visited his grave.

Sarjis Alam was present at these programs along with the Bhola coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement and the leaders of the National Citizens' Committee.
