Bhola: For the past 15 years, the people of the country have been subjected to extreme oppression and torture under an unprecedented fascist and mafia rule, said Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Committee and the general secretary of the July Smriti Foundation.
He said that the people of Bangladesh have fought hand in hand and expelled the autocratic Hasina government from the soil of Bangladesh. That is why the people of Bangladesh want to see the autocratic murderer Hasina tried first in the declaration of the 24th uprising.
He said these things at a road meeting at Hilsa Fountain Square while distributing leaflets in Bhola town on Friday (January 10).
The secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation said that the most important thing is that the declaration should clearly state the trial and punishment of those on whose orders so many people, including the murderer Hasina, were killed and bloodied. We have spoken to people from all classes and professions; they have expressed solidarity and stated that our 7-point demand is reasonable.
Sarjis Alam said that the anti-discrimination student movement should first express a clear commitment to ensure justice for the Awami killers and accomplices in the student uprising in this manifesto. The declaration should mention the sacrifices of the working people of every district and upazila. This should not be about a few.
He also said that the murderer Hasina has set up a syndicate in Gopalganj. Her family had set up syndicates in every place and snatched away the rights of the people. The people of Bangladesh want to end them and see a Bangladesh of equality.
The general secretary of the July Smriti Foundation, demanding trial for the former Bhola police superintendent, said that Jasim Uddin died in police firing in Bhola during the non-cooperation movement called by the anti-discrimination student movement. Former Bhola police superintendent (SP) Md. Mahiduzzaman should take responsibility for his death.
He also said that the SP, police officers and constables should take responsibility for those who were shot by the police during the movement, including Jasim Bhai. Any police officer involved in this murder must be found. They must be brought to justice. Their punishment should not be just a transfer.
Stating that the people of this island have been martyred the most in the movement to overthrow the government, Sarjis said, we think that distance from Dhaka city can never determine the priority. Priority is determined by how much sacrifice someone has. Bhola is one of the first districts of Bangladesh in that sacrifice, the district of 'Bir'.
Earlier, Sarjis distributed leaflets at Bhola Sadar Road and Bangla School intersection as part of the mass communication of the anti-discrimination student movement to create public opinion for the July Revolution declaration. In addition, he met the family members of Jasim Uddin, a martyr who was killed in Bhola during the anti-discrimination student movement, expressed his sympathy and visited his grave.
Sarjis Alam was present at these programs along with the Bhola coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement and the leaders of the National Citizens' Committee.

There had been tension between BGB and BSF at the Chapainawabganj border since Monday (January 6) over the construction of a barbed wire fence on the border. After several rounds of flag meetings, BGB and BSF took a face-to-face position on Wednesday (January 8). Tensions increased at the border.
Meanwhile, local residents of the area also joined the BGB to protect the country's soil. At 12 noon, a local was seen sitting with a sickle with the BGB at the Chapainawabganj border. His gaze was towards the border. Ignoring the bloodshot eyes of the BSF, the person's position with a sickle was just like that of Titumir of the Bamboo Fort.
The moment the image of the person's love for the country was broadcast in the media, it went viral. Many people from the country and abroad, including Adviser Asif Mahmud, shared the image and showered praise on the person.
But who is this fearless patriot?
After this incident, Barta24.com tried to find out the identity of the person. The name of the person sitting with a sickle is Md. Bablu Haque (35). He is a farmer by profession. He is a resident of Kaliganj village in Binodpur union of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district.
While talking to Barta24.com, he said that his house is about 300 yards away from the border. For the past few days, there had been a dispute with the BGB and BSF over the construction of a barbed wire fence. He could not bear to see all this in front of his eyes.
Md. Bablu Haque said, when the BSF camp was set up on Wednesday morning, we also took up a position by digging a ditch. About 10-15 ordinary people went and dug a canal. There were thousands of people from a few villages behind. In the morning, I was sitting there all day by digging a ditch. In the morning, I went to work in the field with a sickle. So I was sitting there with that. I can't take pictures in the morning.
He also said that a large number of BSF personnel took up positions on the border in the morning and the surrounding villages were informed. Thousands of people gathered immediately. The farmers present in the field started digging semi-bunkers. After that, after holding flag meetings with the BSF, the BSF stopped the construction of the barbed wire fence.
Md. Bablu Haque (35) is a farmer by profession and is the father of 4 children. He lives with his wife, 3 sons and 1 daughter.
It is worth noting that last Monday, the BSF illegally started digging soil and constructing a barbed wire fence within 100 yards of the no-man's land on the Indian side of the border without any discussion. The BGB protested and stopped this. Tension arose on the border. At one stage, both forces deployed additional members on the border and the locals took a stand with the BGB to resist the illegal activities of the BSF to protect the sovereignty of the country. Similarly, Indian citizens are also seen taking a stand with the BSF.
The BSF agreed to this in the third round of flag meetings with the BGB on Wednesday afternoon regarding the tense situation surrounding the construction of the barbed wire fence. The BGB said that the situation in the area is currently normal.
Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, commander of the 59th BGB Battalion in Chapainawabganj, told Barta24.com that it is a risky task. But it is dangerous to move forward on the frontline or near the zero line without any security measures, especially helmets and bulletproof jackets. Both the people of the country and we love the country. But until the BGB fails, ordinary people should not move forward on such a frontline. I will appeal to the people of the country that no one else should be inspired to take such a risk after seeing this scene. He also said that the BGB is working diligently to protect the country's borders.
He also said that the local people have supported us in such a situation. For this, the BGB is grateful to them. We thank the local people.
Although the arrival of various seasonal vegetables during the winter has brought some relief to public life, people are not getting relief from the high price of non-vegetarian food. The prices of broilers, poultry, and local chicken have also increased, including eggs.
On Friday (January 10), this picture was found while talking to traders and buyers at the Kachukhet and Ibrahimpur kitchen markets in the capital.
On a visit to the chicken market today, it was seen that the prices of almost all types of chicken, including broilers and cocks, have increased by 10-20 taka compared to last week. Last week, broiler chicken was sold at 190-200 taka, but this week it is being sold at 210-220 taka. In addition, ‘sonali’ chicken has increased by 10-20 taka to 360-370 taka per kg, while local chicken is being sold from 550 taka to 560-570 taka per kg.
A visit to the kitchen market shows that tomatoes are being sold at 60 taka per kg, radishes at 20 taka, carrots at 60 taka, papaya at 50 taka, cauliflower at 25-30 taka, cabbage at 40 taka, onion paste at 15 taka, chickpeas at 50 taka, beans at 50 taka to 60 taka depending on the type, raw sweet pumpkin at 60 taka per piece of medium size, raw chili at 80 taka per kg, gourd at 50-60 taka per piece depending on the size, black brinjal at 60 taka, long brinjal at 50 taka, white brinjal at 60 taka, beetroot at 80 taka, turnip at 30 taka, cucumber at 50-60 taka.
In addition, new potatoes are being sold at 40 taka, new local onions at 50 taka, Indian garlic at 200 taka, and local ginger at 160 taka per kg.
A visit to the egg market has shown that this week, a dozen white eggs are being sold at 130 taka per dozen, a dozen red eggs at 140 taka and a dozen rabbit eggs at 230 taka.
Regarding this, the seller said that the price of vegetables has come down a lot. It does not seem to be going down any further. There is no room for further decline. If they are sold at a lower price than this, farmers will face problems. Production costs will not increase either. However, although it is slightly higher than other years, the current price is right.
When asked whether the price of daily necessities is now at a tolerable level, a private employee named Mosharraf Hossain, who came to the market, told Barta24.com that the price of vegetables is going down but the price of chicken has gone up. The price of one decreases while the price of the other increases. We are not relieved. If we give less on one side, the money goes up on the other side.
