If the Indian government does not send Sheikh Hasina back, then if the country allows it, the National Independent Investigation Commission (NIIC) President Major General ALM Fazlur Rahman has said that if the Indian government does not send her back, then Sheikh Hasina will be interrogated there if the country allows it.

He made this statement at a program organized on Monday (January 6) at Rawa Club in the capital to exchange views with the families of the martyrs in the BDR massacre.

He said, it is not enough to just say that local and foreign people together committed the BDR massacre. It is not enough to say that India is involved; evidence must be presented in its favor. He also said that all small and big evidence will be considered with importance at this time.

Regarding the repatriation of Sheikh Hasina, he said that if India does not send Sheikh Hasina back to the country, the investigation commission will go to India and interrogate Sheikh Hasina if they allow it. The work will continue even if no security or vehicles are provided.

Major General ALM Fazlur Rahman said that the National Independent Investigation Commission will remain impartial in the BDR killings, and the investigation will be carried out impartially with the cooperation of everyone. In the past 16 years, much evidence of the BDR killings has been destroyed. Whatever happens now will be done openly.

Stating that efforts will be made to complete the investigation of the BDR killings within three months, he said that there is no intention to extend the time. However, if necessary, an application for an extension will be made. The commission wants everyone to get justice.

The International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina and 11 others in connection with the disappearances during the 15-year rule of the Awami League.

A two-member tribunal led by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder issued the order on Monday (January 6) following an application by the prosecution.

In addition to Sheikh Hasina, those who have been issued arrest warrants in connection with the disappearances include former Defense Adviser (retired) Major General Tariq Ahmed Siddique and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.

Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tajul Islam said in the hearing today that the Awami League introduced a culture of disappearances under state patronage. Those who carried out disappearances were rewarded. The Chief Prosecutor also said that RAB, DB, CTTC, DGFI were most involved in disappearances.

In a briefing on this matter, the tribunal's prosecutor said that a culture of fear was introduced in Bangladesh through disappearances and crossfires in the last 15 years. Thousands of people were taken away by various forces in plain clothes or in uniform. After that, they never returned, most of them did not return. Some of them were shown detained in specific cases. Others returned from the 'mirror house' after the end of the dictatorship.

The tribunal's prosecutor said that the next hearing of the case is scheduled for February 12. The investigation report has been asked to be submitted to the court on that day. And if it is not possible to submit the investigation report in the meantime, then the law enforcement agencies have been instructed to submit a progress report on the arrest of the accused.

The government is going to be stricter in stopping the printing of note-guide books by ignoring the government's decision. The Ministry of Education has now ordered the DCs to appoint magistrates and run mobile courts to stop the printing of these banned books.

In a recent letter sent to the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner, the Ministry of Education said that the printing of new textbooks for classes 6 to 10 will continue throughout January. It has been asked to appoint magistrates and run mobile courts to ensure that the presses engaged in printing 40 crore textbooks do not print notes and guide books, diaries, calendars, etc. during this period. Earlier on December 3, the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) ordered that all types of auxiliary books or note-guides before the free textbooks from pre-primary to 10th and equivalent classes were printed and reached the hands of students.

NCTB said that the work of printing, binding and supplying textbooks of various classes is ongoing. It is the national and moral responsibility of all concerned to keep the activities uninterrupted and expedited.
