Joint forces have arrested former minister and former district Awami League president Abdul Latif Biswas in a raid in Belkuchi, Sirajganj.
He was arrested in a raid at his residence in Kamarpara in Belkuchi municipal area on Sunday (January 5) afternoon.
Belkuchi Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Abdul Barek said, I have heard about the arrest of Abdul Latif Biswas. However, I cannot give details right now.
It is worth noting that Abdul Latif Biswas, former president of Sirajganj District Awami League and former Minister of Fisheries and Livestock, resigned from the post of Chairman of Sirajganj District Council in January 2024 and contested the election as an independent candidate from Sirajganj-5 (Belkuchi-Chowhali) constituency. However, he lost a close fight with the boat symbol candidate Abdul Momin Mandal.
He was elected as a member of parliament from Sirajganj-5 (Belkuchi-Chowhali) constituency in 1996 and 2008. After winning the 9th National Parliament election in 2008, he served as the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock in Sheikh Hasina's second cabinet.
