A passenger plane crashed in Washington, DC, in the United States after colliding with a US military helicopter. Rescue teams have recovered 18 bodies.
CBS News reported this information in a report on Thursday (January 30).

Police officials told CBS News that rescue teams have recovered 18 bodies from the scene of the accident. No survivors have been rescued so far.

The BBC reported that there were 60 passengers and 4 crew members on board the plane. The military helicopter was carrying 3 US soldiers.

Earlier on Wednesday night, a PSA Airlines regional plane collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport. A video circulating on social media shows the plane and the helicopter colliding in mid-air over the Potomac River.
Rescue efforts began immediately after the plane crash. Multiple helicopters from the US Park Police, DC Metropolitan Police and US military were seen circling the scene.

Airport authorities said Wednesday night that emergency workers were involved in the rescue effort after the crash. All flights from the airport have been suspended.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it was gathering more information about the crash.
