The Israeli cabinet has postponed a vote on a ceasefire agreement in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. The vote will not take place until the Palestinian independence movement Hamas agrees to all the conditions. Tel Aviv alleges that Hamas is trying to add some new things to the agreement at the last minute.

The BBC reported this information in a report. The Israeli cabinet was scheduled to vote on the ceasefire agreement on Thursday (January 16) morning. But a few hours before the vote, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the vote had been postponed.

In a statement, Netanyahu complained that Hamas was "trying to force some concessions" at the last minute. Therefore, the cabinet vote will not be held until Hamas "agrees to all the conditions."

Earlier on Wednesday evening, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani officially announced the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Doha. Later, US President Joe Biden separately confirmed the ceasefire. US President-elect Donald Trump has made several posts on social media about the ceasefire.

The US, Qatar and Egypt were the main mediators in ending the 15-month-long war between Israel and Hamas. The ceasefire agreement is scheduled to take effect from Sunday (January 19).

However, even if Israeli negotiators agree to the ceasefire agreement in Doha, the agreement will not take effect until its security cabinet and government approve it.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said after Netanyahu's announcement that "a part that has not been completed" has been added. Even so, he is confident that the ceasefire agreement will take effect from Sunday as planned.

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said, both the US and India want to see democracy and elections in Bangladesh soon.

Speaking to Siddhant Sibal, Assistant Editor of World is One News (WION), US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti said this. Garcetti also said that the two countries are working in coordination on this issue.

The US diplomat said, ‘Both the US and India want to see a peaceful, democratic South Asia and we share that vision with each other. We want to make it clear that religious minorities, whether in Bangladesh or any other country, should not be persecuted and I think there is an opportunity ahead.’

‘Both the US and India want to see democracy and democratic elections in Bangladesh as soon as possible. This can help Bangladesh start its next chapter,’ added the US ambassador.

The US ambassador also believes, ‘This is not the time to dwell on past relations. "Rather, we need to think about what the United States and India can do together."

After a long conflict, the Middle Eastern warring group Hamas and the occupying Israel have finally agreed to a ceasefire agreement.

The report said that Israel and Hamas have reached a landmark agreement to stop hostilities in Gaza and exchange Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners.

The report said that the progress comes after months of intense negotiations with the help of Egyptian and Qatari mediators supported by the United States.

The long-running conflict between Israel and Hamas has killed more than 46,000 people.
