Reserves in the country are now over 20 billion: Governor
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur said that the country now has reserves of over 20 billion. And remittances of 3 billion have come in the last five months.
He said these things in response to questions from journalists after inaugurating the Ghatail branch as the 400th branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC at the Ghatail Upazila Auditorium in Tangail on Saturday (December 28) afternoon.
Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur said that many were worried about the collapse of the banking sector. The big thing is that the banks have now turned around from there. Now they will not fall again.
He said that Bangladesh will not be able to move forward in the economy without leaving one. To restructure the economy of the state, the banking sector will have to be restructured. Overall, Islami Bank is now at the top and is going to be established internationally. The Islamic banking sector needs to be better organized.
He also said that there were several crises in our economy. We had a huge deficit in global trade. Reserves were falling. We have come a long way from this place. Bangladesh Bank's reserves are no longer decreasing. Bangladesh Bank has not sold any dollars since last August. So our reserves will not decrease, they will increase. There has been a huge change in the flow of remittances. In the last five months, we have received 3 billion additional remittances. Money laundering has decreased due to the establishment of good governance.
