Tamim Iqbal Khan has officially said goodbye to international cricket.

In a post on social media, Bangladesh's all-time best opener announced the end of his international cricket career tonight.

He made this information known through a post on his verified Facebook account on Friday (January 10).

In that post, he wrote, "I have been away from international cricket for a long time. That distance will never be bridged. My chapter in international cricket is over. I have been thinking about it for a long time. Now that a big event like the Champions Trophy is ahead, I do not want to be criticized again and the team's attention to be disrupted."

He also wrote, "Of course, I did not want this before. I removed myself from the BCB's central contract a long time ago because I did not want it. Although many have said, it has been in the media many times, that I am the one who has left the matter hanging." But there is no BCB contract, there is no plan or discussion about him who stepped down more than a year ago. Even then, there was unnecessary discussion. The decision to retire or continue playing is the right of a cricketer or any professional athlete. I gave myself time. Now I feel that the time has come. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto sincerely asked me to return. Discussions were also held with the selection committee. I am grateful to them for still considering me suitable. However, I listened to my own mind.

At the end of the post, Tamim wrote, what happened before the 2023 World Cup was a big shock for me, since I did not leave the team for cricketing reasons. Even after that, wherever I went, many cricket fans told me that they want to see me in the national team again. I thought of their love. I also have a fan at home. My son never told me directly, but he repeatedly told his mother that he wants to see his father play in the national jersey again.

I am sorry for disappointing the fans. I tell my son, "The day you grow up, you will understand your father."

Pakistani legendary cricketer Younis Khan is now joining the Afghanistan team. He will work as a consultant for the Afghan national team in the ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed this information today.

Younis also worked as the batting coach of the Afghanistan team in 2022. The Champions Trophy, a one-day format that will start from February 19, will be jointly organized by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

ACB spokesperson Syed Nasim Sadat told the media, "The ACB has appointed former experienced Pakistani top-order player Younis Khan as a consultant for the 2025 Champions Trophy. He will join the team before the event starts in Pakistan."

Younis has scored 10,099 runs in 118 Test matches in his career, including a career-best 313 runs. He also became the world number one batsman in the ICC rankings. Younis also led Pakistan to its first T20 World Cup victory in 2009.

After retiring from playing, Younis focused on his coaching career. He briefly served as the batting coach of the Pakistan team. He worked with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Younis Khan was also the head coach of the Bengal Tigers in the recently concluded Abu Dhabi T10 League.

The court has summoned Shakib Al Hasan, one of the country's leading cricketers and former MP from Magura-1 constituency, to appear in court in a cheque dishonor case.

The other accused in the case are Agro Farm Limited MD Gazi Shahgir Hossain, the company's director Imdadul Haque and Malaika Begum.

The matter was learned from court sources on Wednesday (December 18).

According to sources, Shahibur Rahman filed the case on behalf of IFIC Bank on December 15. The case was filed after two checks worth about Tk. 4.15 crore were dishonored.

The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque of Dhaka issued the summons on that day. They have been ordered to appear in court on January 18.

The case states that the Agro Farm owned by Shakib took a loan from IFIC Bank for business purposes. The company issued two checks in favor of the bank against this. When the bank tried to withdraw the money on the specified date, it was dishonored because there was not enough money.

Gudakesh Moti was the most successful bowler for West Indies, taking 2 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Akil Hossain, Alzarri Joseph, Roston Chase and Obed McCoy each took a wicket.
