Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus organized a reception for the SAFF-winning women's football team.

The reception was held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday (November 2) at 11 am. Earlier, the Bangladesh women's football team, which won the SAFF championship, entered the Jamuna at 10:30 am.

23 footballers, manager Mahmuda Ananya and Coach Peter Butler were scheduled to meet the Chief Adviser. The remaining members of the SAFF-winning Bangladesh contingent in Nepal - the goalkeeper coach, assistant coach, physio and media officer - could not go to Jamuna. In addition, no BFF official went to Jamuna.

Last Wednesday, Bangladesh won the SAFF for the second time in a row. They defeated host Nepal in the final. They won 2-1 with goals from Monika Chakma and Rituparna Chakma at the Dashrath Rangasala in Kathmandu. The Bangladesh women's football team returned home on Thursday. Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan was waiting at the BFF building from 5:30 pm to welcome the winning women footballers that day. The waiting ended at 7 pm. The winning women footballers arrived at the BFF building three hours after departing from the airport at 4 pm in an open-top bus.

The winning Bangladesh team has already received a prize of Tk 1 crore from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also announced a prize of Tk. 20 lakh for Sabina Khatun's team.

The SAFF women's football team has started its journey to BFF from Shahjalal International Airport. They boarded an open-top bus. Thousands of people have come down to the streets of Dhaka to welcome them.

The champions set foot on Dhaka soil at 2:15 pm today. Then Bangladesh coach Peter Butler and captain Sabina Khatun spoke to the media. After that, the footballers boarded the bus, this time their destination is Bangladesh Football Federation.

This bus carrying the women's football team will take the elevated expressway. Then it will come in front of FDC and get off at Sat rasta. From there, it will take the Moghbazar flyover. It will get off at Kakrail and go through Paltan, Notre Dame College and Shapla Chattar before finally reaching BFF Bhaban.

The remaining formalities will be held at BFF Bhaban. More supporters are present there. Sports adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan is scheduled to receive them there.

Bangladesh women's team has won the SAFF Championship title for the second consecutive time. Bangladesh maintained its record of winning the trophy by defeating Nepal 2-1 in Kathmandu last Wednesday night. 

Bangladesh was on a mission to retain the title. Goals from Monika Chakma and Rituparna Chakma showed that coach Peter Butler's team did it. They won the title by defeating host Nepal 2-1 in the final.

In the second minute, Tohura Khatun got the ball in the gap due to Pooja Rana's mistake. Her shot was blocked by the crossbar. In the return attempt, Nepal goalkeeper Anjila blocked her header. In the next minute, Bangladesh goalkeeper Rupana Chakma also made a small mistake. However, Rupana managed to save before Savitra Bhandari could use that opportunity. Both mistakes showed that the nerves of the final were well-established in both teams.

Bangladesh's goal was blocked early on at the crossbar. In the 10th minute, Nepal's attempt to score a goal was also blocked by the crossbar. Amisha Karki's shot from outside the box hit the post. Bangladesh was saved from conceding a goal.

In the 18th minute of the match, Amrita Jaishi was shown a yellow card for fouling Monika Chakma. After about four minutes, Bangladesh tried to score with a long-range shot. However, Nepal goalkeeper Anjila easily saved Masura Parveen's shot.

In the 27th minute, Amisha Karki got a chance. However, Bangladesh's defense handled it well. In the 33rd minute, Nepal had a chance outside the box. However, the visitors could not capitalize on that opportunity. Maria Mandar's shot went over the bar. Towards the end of the first half, Nepal got another chance, but this time, Nepal did not get a goal due to Sabita's mistake on the right wing, when she slipped and Shamsunnahar Senior took possession of the ball.

Although neither team got a chance in the first half, neither team was able to capitalize on it. As a result, the first 45 minutes ended goalless. All the excitement was for the next 45 minutes.

Bangladesh took the lead at the beginning of the second half. In the 52nd minute, after a great build-up by the visitors, the ball fell to the feet of Monica Chakma due to a mistake by Savita Rana Magar. Her goal put the defending champions ahead.

However, Bangladesh could not maintain their lead. Host Nepal responded in the 55th minute. Masura Parveen made a mistake in intercepting Preeti Rai's pass. The ball fell to the feet of Amisha Karki. The Nepali forward easily put the ball into the net after finding the goalkeeper alone.

From then on, Nepal came closest to success in its attempt to go ahead. Rupana Chakma kept Bangladesh in the match by stopping multiple shots from Savitra Bhandari and Amisha Karki.

In the 76th minute, a great shot by Maria Manda was saved with one hand by Nepal goalkeeper Anjila. However, in the 80th minute, the Nepal goalkeeper could not cope with that goal. The hosts made multiple mistakes. Substitute Anita Besnet was responsible for marking Rituparna Chakma from Shamsunnahar Senior's throw-in. She couldn't do it, Rituparna took a shot from a wide angle. Her shot hit Anjila's hand and went into the net. The 13,000 spectators present at the Dashrath Stadium were stunned in an instant.

The final whistle confirmed Bangladesh's title celebration. Meanwhile, Nepal was left in the throes of a dream loss in the women's SAFF final for the sixth time in a row.

After batting for almost two days, South Africa finally declared their innings. The team played 144.2 overs before declaring innings. They scored 575 runs on the scoreboard, losing a total of 6 wickets. Three people have scored centuries for the team. After Tristan Stubbs and Tony de Georgie, Vianne Mulder has also scored a debut century. The visitors declared their innings immediately after his century.

Taijul Islam's Fifer was done in the first session. In the second session, Nahid Rana dismissed Ryan Rickleton. After that, South Africa did not lose any more wickets.

Mulder and Senuran Muthusamy took the team to the tea break. After that, the two were inseparable until the end of the innings. Mulder scored 103 off 150 balls and Senuran Muthusamy scored 70 off 75 balls and remained unbeaten at the end.

South Africa were waiting for Mulder's first century of his career. When he finally got it, Markram declared the innings immediately. Their seventh wicket partnership made 154 runs in 31 overs.

Earlier in this match, Tony de Georgie and Tristan Stubbs had scored their first centuries of their careers. The centuries of both of them basically laid the foundation for South Africa to score big runs.
