There will be a quota for freedom fighters' children in medical admission
The Health Ministry has said that a 5 percent freedom fighter quota will remain in the medical admission process for the 2024-25 academic year. However, this quota will be applicable only to the children of freedom fighters and biranganas, and will not be applicable to their grandchildren or anyone else.
This information was given in a press release sent by Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Senior Information Officer of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Monday (January 20).
It is said that the 5 percent freedom fighter quota in the MBBS admission process of medical colleges for the year 2024-25 will be applicable only to the children of freedom fighters and heroines, as per the existing rules, and will not be applicable to their grandchildren or anyone else. Out of the 269 seats reserved under this quota, 193 candidates have passed the admission test. The remaining 76 seats have already been filled from the merit list.
The notification said that the 193 people initially selected under the freedom fighter quota will have to appear at the Medical Education Branch located on the second floor of the old building of the Directorate General of Health Services in Mohakhali by January 29 with their freedom fighter certificates, their own birth registration certificates and all other evidence and academic certificates for verification. If any incorrect or untrue information is found during the verification process, the admission of the concerned candidate will be cancelled and the vacant seat will be filled from the merit list.
Until the verification process is completed, all admission-related activities for these 193 people will be suspended and other activities of the medical college, including the admission of the remaining ones, will continue as usual, the Ministry of Health said.
