Rickshaw puller dies without treatment at hospital gate, 5 arrested

During the anti-discrimination movement in the capital's Rampura, rickshaw puller Ismail was shot by police in front of the private hospital Delta Healthcare Hospital. He crawled to the hospital security staff for help. But no one opened the door. Ismail died on the hospital stairs due to excessive bleeding.

The incident ended there. But a photojournalist captured the picture of Ismail pleading for help. After about six months, the picture went viral on social media. Many people shared the picture out of sympathy. After the matter came to the attention of law enforcement officers, the Hatirjheel Police Station conducted a raid at Delta Police Station yesterday afternoon and arrested five people, including a doctor who was on duty at the time.

On Friday (January 17) night, Hatirjheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Raju confirmed this information. Hatirjheel Police Station has arrested 5 people, including a doctor, in the case of Ismail's medical negligence.

He said that 5 people have been arrested in connection with the death of rickshaw driver Ismail in front of the hospital without medical treatment. However, it has not been decided yet whether a new case will be filed or the arrests will be shown in a previous case.
