Former Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam said during the remand hearing, ‘Not all days go the same way. This is not a day.’

On Tuesday (November 19), accused Qamrul Islam said this while addressing the court after the statements of the state and accused lawyers. 

Qamrul Islam also said, my area is Keraniganj. New Market area is not under my jurisdiction. I am not the MP of that area myself. I have been made accused number 56 in this case. My name may have been forgotten and written in the statement at the last moment.

After saying this, the state lawyer said, he is involved in all the murders. He conspired to kill people with Sheikh Hasina in the meeting. Hearing this, Qamrul Islam said, ‘Not all days go the same way. This is not a day.’

After hearing this, the state lawyers present got angry. Metropolitan Magistrate Jihadur Rahman then left the courtroom with an 8-day remand order.

The case's investigation officer, Police Inspector Jahangir Arif of the DB Police's Ramna Zonal Team, applied for him to be remanded for 10 days. The state lawyers held a hearing in favor of granting a 10-day remand. The defendant's lawyer applied for bail, seeking cancellation of the remand.

Earlier, Qamrul Islam was arrested on Monday in the Abdul Wadud murder case of New Market Police Station.

The case alleged that businessman Abdul Wadud was shot dead in front of Gate No. 1 of New Market at 5 pm on July 19. A murder case was filed against 130 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, in this incident. Abdur Rahman, the deceased businessman's brother-in-law, filed the case with New Market Police Station on August 21.

Members of the Saad-supporting Tabligh Jamaat have left their position with a memorandum to Chief Adviser Dr. Md. Yunus regarding ensuring Maulana Saad's participation in the Ijtema.

On Tuesday (November 19) at 11:20 am, they left their position in front of the Kakrail Mosque and the road in front of the Chief Justice's residence.

Md. Abu Sayem, media coordinator of Nizamuddin followers, told Barta24.com, "Our one-point demand is to ensure Maulana Saad's participation in the Ijtema. Our other demand was the first Ijtema. But it is a government decision, so it will be done as the government decides."

He said, "When we took a stand to demand the demands, the Chief Adviser's press secretary took a group of 9 of us to the Jamuna. We went there and gave him a memorandum to the Chief Adviser stating our one-point demand." He assured us and said that he would take a decision on this issue soon. So we left the position.

Meanwhile, at around 8:30 am today, they took a stand in front of Kakrail Mosque and on the road in front of the Chief Justice's residence. At that time, they demanded to ensure participation in the first Ijtema and Maulana Saad's Ijtema. Later, at around 9:30 am, a 9-member delegation of Tablighi Jamaat went to Jamuna at the invitation of Chief Adviser Dr. Md. Yunus's press secretary and there they submitted a memorandum to the Chief Adviser's press secretary. 

Students have blocked roads for the second day demanding that the government Titumir College be converted into a university.

They started the protest by blocking the road in front of the college at 11 am on Tuesday (November 19).

Earlier, students of the institution blocked roads and railways in the Mohakhali area from 11 am to 4 pm on Monday (November 18) demanding that the government Titumir College be converted into a university. This stopped traffic on all sides of the busiest road. People suffered. In addition, the students threw bricks and stones at a moving train. Several passengers, including children, were injured in the incident. 

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested former Begum Rokeya University (BRU) proctor Shariful Islam, an accused in the murder case of Abu Sayeed, who was shot dead by police in Rangpur during the anti-discrimination student movement.

He was arrested from the Alamnagar area of the city on Monday (November 18) night.

PBI Rangpur Superintendent of Police ABM Zakir Hossain confirmed the matter. He said that former University proctor Shariful Islam, one of the accused in the murder case of Abu Sayeed, who was shot dead by police at the gate of Begum Rokeya University on July 16, has been arrested. He is accused of giving instructions to the police to shoot while present at the scene.

It is learnt that he will be taken to court at 12 noon on Tuesday (November 19).
