Salaries of 6,500 workers, including the staff of the TNZ factory that was recently protested in Gazipur, have been paid. On Thursday (November 14) evening, money started being sent to the mobile banking accounts of the factory workers. Later, the factory authorities announced that the factory would open as usual from tomorrow, Saturday (November 16).

On Friday (November 15) afternoon, Gazipur Industrial Police-2 Superintendent of Police Sarwar Alam confirmed the matter.

He said that the government had announced that the salaries would be paid next Sunday in a meeting of the Ministry of Labor and Employment last Monday night. But before that time, the salaries of the workers were paid through mobile banking on Thursday (November 14) evening. The factory will reopen peacefully from tomorrow.

Incidentally, last Saturday (November 9) the workers of the TNZ Apparels Limited factory started a movement in the Malek Bari area of Gazipur metropolis demanding three months' arrears of salary. At one stage, they blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 11 am that day. The workers withdrew their 60-hour-long strike around 2 pm on Monday after the Labor Ministry assured them of salary payments.
