Students of Islamic University have taken out a joyful procession after the announcement of the ban on the fraternal organization of Bangladesh Awami League, "Bangladesh Chhatra League".

The procession circled various roads of the campus and the neighboring Sheikhpara Bazar and turned into a happy rally before reaching the administration building premises.

At this time, the speakers said that this Chhatra League was involved in various terrorist activities including murder, torture, mass room-based oppression, hall seat trading, tender rigging, rape and sexual harassment. Chhatra League also attacked and injured our brothers and sisters in the July movement by indiscriminately attacking and beating them. We have been demanding the banning of this terrorist organization for a long time. Finally, our demand has been fulfilled, the terrorist organization Chhatra League has been banned on the soil of Bangladesh. We thank the interim government for this.

IU Coordinator SM Sweet said that the previous government used Chhatra League in a terrorist manner to convert the whole of Bangladesh into a prison, turned the whole of Bangladesh into a torture cell, and by banning them by law, peace has returned to the lives of the people of this country. Starting from murder and rape, there is no crime against humanity that Chhatra League has not committed. The interim government will be demanded to bring the leaders and activists of this banned terrorist organization under the law and ensure their punishment. He also demanded that the 1972 constitution be scrapped and a new constitution be formulated, stating that the hopes and aspirations of the common people were not reflected in the constitution.

The severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’, which is located in the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, has moved further north-northwestwards and is currently located in the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjacent northwest Bay of Bengal.

The front of the severe cyclonic storm is likely to bring heavy to very heavy rains along with gusty or squally winds over the North Bay of Bengal and the adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh and its nearby islands and chars.

The maximum sustained wind speed within 64 km of the centre of the severe cyclonic storm is 90 kmph, increasing to 110 kmph in gusty or squally winds. The sea is very rough in the area near the centre of the severe cyclonic storm.

Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been asked to stay in safe shelter until further notice.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast rain or thundershowers with gusty winds in various parts of the country including the capital Dhaka in the next 72 hours from 6 pm on Wednesday (October 23).

The forecast for the next 24 hours from 6 pm on Wednesday says that rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally winds may occur at most places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Along with this, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur at some places in the country. Day and night temperatures may decrease slightly across the country.

Jatiya Nagarik Committee convener Nasir Uddin Patwary has called on political parties that will not join the movement to remove the president of the fascist government to ‘leave’ and unite.

He made this call at a press conference on Wednesday (October 23) at around 7:15 pm.

He said, we do not want to see any part of the fascist regime existing in Bangladesh. This decision will have to be made politically. We will call on political parties not to take any rash decisions to save Bangladesh.

Nasir Uddin called on Hasina to unite in demanding the removal of Chuppu, part of the fascist regime, for national unity.

‘Our call to the countrymen is that if any political party does not join the movement to remove Chuppu, part of the fascist regime, we will leave them. We will unite again shoulder to shoulder with the united forces of the people who fought unitedly on the 5th.'

This other leader of the Citizens' Platform said, 'We do not want the rotten constitution of '72 to prevail in Bangladesh. The constitution of '72 is at the root of all our crises.'

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has called for unity among all political parties in the country, except the Awami League, Chhatra League and Jatiya Party, to demand the resignation of the President.

Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, made this call at a press conference at around 7:15 pm on Wednesday (October 23).

Hasnat Abdullah said, the one-point announcement made from Shaheed Minar on August 3 included the abolition of the fascist system and a new political settlement. Expressing solidarity with our one-point, every democratic political party came out on August 5. Under our leadership, they came out on the streets and shed blood. That day, we were able to ensure our primary achievement, the fall of Sheikh Hasina. But the complete fall of the fascist system has not yet occurred. Those who have expressed solidarity with the mass uprising can never be in favor of the 1972 constitution. Because it was based on the 1972 constitution that fascism was established in the country.

He said, we have seen that whenever Sheikh Hasina resigns and talks about fair elections, whenever there is talk of a neutral government, she talks about constitutional continuity. Still, some political parties are talking about constitutional continuity regarding the resignation of President Chuppu.

Hasnat Abdullah, who demanded the annulment of the 1972 constitution, said, "The constitution will have to be written anew. Fascism may return, and these cannot be kept in the background. The constitution of the Bakshalits is no longer relevant. I want unity among pro-democracy political parties. If the 1972 constitution is annulled, there will be no constitutional continuity in the annulment of Chuppu."

Calling on all pro-democracy political parties, Jatiya Nagarik Committee convener Nasir Uddin Patwary said, "We had one point in mind: the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government and her regime. Even if Hasina falls, there are people from her regime in Bangabhaban. Therefore, I am calling on all parties except the Awami League, Chhatra League, Jatiya Party and the forces of mass uprising for national unity."

He urged the countrymen to unite by abandoning any political party if it did not respond to this call.
