After the tension, relief has started to return to the egg market. A dozen eggs were sold at 180 to 190 taka for several days in the retail market, but now they are selling at 150 taka. If the import of vegetables increases, the market will come under full control; the owners of wholesale egg farms think that. Also, since the eggs are sold at the price fixed by the government, now the companies are not fixing the price on mobile SMS.

This information was known by talking to the owners of Tejgaon Egg Farm in the capital on Friday (October 18) morning. Traders are claiming that relief has returned to the price of eggs in the market due to the sale of corporate companies at the price fixed by the government.

Tejgaon Arat is one of the biggest wholesale markets for selling eggs in Dhaka. Eggs are brought here by trucks from farms in different parts of the country. After that eggs are supplied from Tejgaon to various retail markets and neighborhoods of Dhaka. As a result, stopping the sale of eggs in Tejgaon generally affects the retail market.

Tejgaon wholesale egg dealer Islampur Poultry owner Mehdi Hasan after selling the eggs all night, he was busy with calculations in the morning.

He told Barta24.com that big corporate companies like Paragon and Qazi Farm used to fix the price of eggs through mobile SMS. As a result, the price fluctuated.

Mehdi Hasan said with relief that since the last two days, after the government fixed the price of eggs, relief has started returning to the egg market. Mobile SMS prices are not fixed since two days.

In the month of August, due to severe floods in most parts of the south western region and northern region of the country, the market has had a lot of impact on the kitchen material market. As well as the sinking of fish enclosures in these areas, the fish market was also in turmoil. Due to the increase in the demand for eggs at unbridled prices in the kitchen market and fish market, the price of eggs also increased at an alarming rate. Traders believe that if the import of vegetables in the market increases from next month, the price of eggs will also come within the reach of people.

Islampur Poultry owner Mehdi Hasan claimed that the price of eggs will further decrease in the market from next month because winter vegetables will start coming in the market from next month. The demand for eggs has increased due to high prices of vegetables. Earlier, 50,000 eggs were sold daily from my shop, now 70,000 to 80,000 eggs are being sold daily.

Meanwhile, Al Amin Hossain, manager of Allahar Dan Egg Farm, told Barta24.com that now the market has started to get some relief as corporate companies are offering eggs at the price set by the government. Eggs are being sold at the price of 11 takas in the market today. That is, a dozen is being sold at 133 takas. If the corporate companies sell eggs at the price fixed by the government then the market situation will be normal.

A dozen eggs are sold at 133 taka in the wholesale market, but a dozen eggs are being sold at 150 taka in shops in different districts of the capital.

A dozen red eggs are being sold for Tk. 150 taka.

If a dozen is 133 taka in Tejgaon wholesale market, how do you sell 150 taka in response, Jabbar store owner Rafiq Jabbar told Barta24.com that we do not bring eggs directly from Tejgaon wholesale market. After hatching we get eggs here after another three to four hands. As a result, we have to sell eggs at a higher price.

According to the information of TCB, the price of eggs was 150 to 162 per dozen on August 8. From mid-2022, the price of eggs started to increase. Step by step it increased to more than 150 takas. Sometimes the price goes up to 170 to 180 taka. Before 2022, the price of eggs per dozen fluctuated between Tk. 80 and Tk. 120 throughout the year. The daily demand of eggs in the country is about 4.5 crore. Earlier, about 4-5 crore eggs were produced per day.

The interim government on October 8 allowed seven companies to import 4.5 crore eggs to deal with the unbridled price of eggs. After that, the situation in the market began to normalize, the traders claimed.
