Begum Zia's eldest son and acting chairman of BNP Tarique Rahman has expressed his deep gratitude to Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad for providing air ambulance and necessary services for former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Tarique Rahman expressed this gratitude in a post on his verified Facebook page and X handle on Friday (January 9) night. Along with this, he also expressed interest in Bangladesh's long-term and multifaceted relations with Qatar.

He said, "I am deeply grateful to the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, for kindly providing transport and necessary equipment for my mother, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia."

Tarique Rahman said, "On behalf of my family and the people of Bangladesh, I sincerely thank you for this support. We look forward to building long-term, multifaceted relations between Bangladesh and Qatar."

It is worth noting that Begum Zia is now admitted to a London clinic for advanced treatment. After almost seven and a half years, she has been reunited with her family. In the meantime, she has been imprisoned in a case filed by the Awami League government, and has not received proper treatment despite suffering from various diseases. After a long wait, she has gone for treatment with the unprecedented love of the people of the whole country.
