Red alert to arrest absconding former OC Shah Alam

A red alert has been issued across the country to arrest former OC Shah Alam, who escaped from the capital's Uttara Purba police station.

Uttara Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Rawnak Jahan confirmed this information on Friday (January 10) afternoon.

He said that OC Shah Alam, who was arrested from Uttara Purba police station on Thursday (January 9), escaped. All kinds of measures have been taken in this incident, including issuing a red alert from the police headquarters.

DC Rawnak Jahan also said that the police have filed a case as a plaintiff in the escape.

It is learned that Shah Alam escaped from the OC's room of Uttara Purba police station on Thursday (January 9). It has been alleged that Shah Alam, an accused in a murder case, was arrested and kept in the OC's room instead of being kept in the jail. He was able to escape due to the negligence of the police personnel.

When contacted for an update on the absconding OC Shah Alam on Friday (January 10), Uttara Purba Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mohibullah gave this information.

He said that all units of the army, RAB and police are working to catch the absconding OC Shah Alam. Information technology support is also being taken. Hopefully, we will be able to arrest him very soon.

The OC of Uttara Purba Police Station arrested Shah Alam in a case related to the anti-discrimination student movement. The process of handing him over to the court was going on on Thursday (January 9) afternoon. In the meantime, he escaped skillfully.

It is learned that Shah Alam was an accused in several cases, including murder, in the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5. He joined Uttara Purba Police Station on August 1.

DMP Media and Public Relations Department Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that a murder case was filed against Shah Alam on September 2 in the anti-discrimination student movement. He was arrested in that case on Wednesday (January 8). He was being produced in court on Thursday when he managed to escape.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) on duty has been suspended for negligence of duty in the incident.
