Dhaka: Commenting that the interim government has taken charge in a completely devastated state, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman said, but if they see inefficiency in the government's management, the people will not accept it easily.

He said, the acolytes of the dictatorship are conspiring in various ways to fail the interim government. However, if the aspirations of the people can be fulfilled, the conspirators will not succeed.

Tarique Rahman said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the 3rd Council of the Jatiyotabadi Textile Engineers Association (JTEB) at the Institute of Engineers (IEB) in the capital on Saturday (November 16) afternoon.

He said, the interim government has taken charge of a devastated country after the dictator fled. It is not possible to remove the garbage created by the mafia government in three months. Again, it is neither unusual nor unfair that questions about the success/failure of the government are raised in the public mind after three months. However, if the government sees inefficiency in its governance, the people will not accept it easily.

The acting chairman of BNP said, I have said before that if the priority settings are wrong while carrying out the reform work, it will be considered as the government's inefficiency by the people. The way the injured came out of the hospital two days ago is a matter of shame for every conscientious person. Naturally, the question may arise why the rehabilitation, treatment and safety of the injured are not on the priority list, even if they were at what number?

Stating that the autocratic government has made the country import-dependent, dependent and debt-dependent for the past 15 years, Tarique Rahman said, it is necessary to bring the country out of such a situation. It is necessary to bring it out and enrich it by any means. BNP is making specific plans to make the garment sector more profitable and create demand in the global market in particular. In addition, the issue of increasing foreign investment in the small and medium, especially SME, sector and increasing inclusion is also under consideration by BNP.

He said, if the politics of a country is sick, the economy is bound to be sick too. We saw that during the autocratic period. The real form of the megaprojects they are undertaking in the name of development is now coming out.

He further said, we believe that BNP's 31-point program is a historical charter for the development of future Bangladesh. In the implementation of these 31-points, emphasis has also been placed on quality and practical education. We believe that population is not a curse, but if this population can be converted into human resources, then this is a great strength for the development of the country.

Tarique Rahman said, we have seen that the interim government has taken the initiative to restructure the Election Commission. The people hope that they will be able to vote in a neutral and transparent environment. The people will get the opportunity to elect their representatives. When the people truly understand that the government is working to establish their right to vote, then the relationship with the people will be strong.

Stating that it is our goal to take the country forward, he said, "To make the living conditions of the people a little better. To make the education system of students better. To provide employment opportunities for the unemployed. To make the medical system of people better. To make security a little better." In the past, whenever the BNP got the opportunity through the people's votes, it tried to do these things as much as possible.
