Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Dr. Iftekharuzzaman has said that the judiciary has acted as a catalyst in establishing Sheikh Hasina’s authoritarianism. He also said that a section of the media also played a similar role.
He made these comments while inaugurating a training workshop on investigative journalism on law at the Midas Center in the capital on Saturday (November 16) morning. The workshop was jointly organized by TIB and Supreme Court Reporters Forum.
Stating that the judiciary and media freedom are inextricably linked, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman said that political reforms must come to benefit the judiciary. Media workers can play a big role in this.
Additional Attorney General Anik R. Haque announced his support in the legal battle against journalists in contempt of court cases at the event.
Supreme Court Reporters Forum (SRF) President Masudur Rahman and General Secretary Golam Rabbani spoke at the workshop.
