The court has dismissed the review of the judgment of the cancellation of the sixteenth amendment of the constitution. As a result, the power to remove judges will remain with the Supreme Judicial Council and not with the members of Parliament. A six-judge appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refat Ahmed dismissed the review.

Earlier on Sunday (October 20) at 9:20 am the hearing started in the Appellate Bench of 6 judges led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refat Ahmed.

A 5-judge appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refat Ahmed made the decision on this day. Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman appeared on behalf of the state.

Petitioner advocate Monzil Morsed presented the review petition to the court for hearing. He told the court that for a long time the review petition of the Sixteenth Amendment is pending in the Appellate Division for hearing.

It is to be noted that the review application against the judgment of the Appellate Division declaring the Sixteenth Amendment of the Constitution invalid and canceled several times before has not been heard.
