Rangpur: Nahid Islam, adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, has refused the crest given by the University on the 16th foundation anniversary of Rangpur's Begum Rokeya University (BRUR).

He declined the honor at a discussion meeting on Saturday (October 12) at 12 noon.

Professor Kamlesh Chandra Roy, Dean of Faculty of Science, BRUR received the honor from this stage. He is the president of Bangabandhu Parishad. On the other hand, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rahman wrote a column in Kranth Kal on August 13th, where he wrote a line 'Even after Abu Sayeed was killed, the situation was manageable'. Information advisor Nahid Islam refused the award as these two were awarded on the occasion of the University's foundation anniversary.

At the time, he said, I am not taking the award from the same platform from which the other members of the Awami League have received the award. Maybe one day I will break free from fascism and take real honors. Besides, he asked the Vice-Chancellor of BRUR to take appropriate action in these matters.

Meanwhile, after hearing the complaints of the students, Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that my column was titled "Abu Sayeed as a teacher of politicians". I have been with the students since the beginning. I wrote on Facebook. However, since today I have been fingered with a line in my column. So I surrender the honor given to me respecting the opinion of the students.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali said, I came not even a month. I have to know the people. I discuss everything with the students and take steps. And I cannot tell people to step down. Give me time inshallah everything will be fine.
