Tulip Siddique has resigned from the post of Economic Affairs Minister of the UK Ministry of Finance in the face of allegations of various irregularities, corruption and financial scandals, including receiving a flat as a gift from a close friend of Sheikh Hasina, threatening a journalist, and embezzling money from the Rooppur nuclear power plant.

On Tuesday (January 14), Tulip submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Starmer issued a statement confirming the matter.

In it, he wrote, ‘Dear Tulip, thank you for your letter. It is with great sadness that I accept your resignation from the ministry. I thank you for the service you have performed as City Minister.’

Claiming that no irregularities were found against Tulip, the British Prime Minister said, ‘In accepting your resignation, I want to make it clear that my independent consultant Sir Laurie Magnus has assured me that he has found no evidence of breach of the ministerial code or financial irregularities against you. I would also like to thank you for your self-initiated call for an investigation into yourself and for your full cooperation with the investigator, Sir Laurie Magnus.’

He added, ‘I applaud the difficult decision you have made to ensure Britain prospers and to ensure that the government does not get in the way. I want to make it clear to you that the door is open for you to move forward.’
