Violence is increasing in the northeastern state of Manipur in India. In this situation, the authorities have shut down internet and mobile services. In addition, an indefinite curfew has been imposed in the capital Imphal to control the situation.

Indian media India Today and news agency Reuters reported this information on Sunday (November 17).

India Today said that internet and mobile data services have been shut down in seven districts of Manipur for two days. Security has been tightened by deploying the army, Assam Rifles and state police to control the situation.

The report also said that tensions in Manipur increased after the recovery of the bodies of six missing persons. During this time, protesters targeted the houses of three ministers and six MLAs, vandalized and set fire to them. Later, they also tried to attack the house of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

The situation in Manipur has been quite unstable since May last year. However, since last week, tensions have flared up again in this northeastern Indian state. This tension has spread over the clash between security forces and Kuki rebels.

In that clash, 10 people were killed. After that, 6 people, including an 8-month-old baby, went missing. Allegations of kidnapping were raised. Their bodies were recovered from a river in Manipur last Friday.
