Former minister and BNP standing committee member Selima Rahman has commented that BNP has taken the lead in every critical moment of the country.
She said this while speaking as the chief guest at the award distribution ceremony of the discussion and painting competition on the occasion of the 89th birth anniversary of the great independence proclaimer, martyred President Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam), organized by the national children's and youth organization Kalamkoli to read the ideals of Shaheed Zia at the Maulana Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club on Thursday (January 23).
Selima Rahman said, today, the 31 points of BNP have to be explained to the common people. BNP has always made reforms for the welfare of the people. One thing must be remembered, that is - BNP has taken the lead every time, no matter how many times Bangladesh has been through critical juncture.
She also said, we have respect and congratulations for the movement we had in July-August, those who liberated this country with their blood. But, at the same time, we must remember that the blood in their chests has not dried yet. The highway is still red with their blood. But, the Indian government, as an international circle, is trying to destabilize the country in various ways by spreading various lies and propaganda about Sheikh Hasina.
He said, today we got independence on August 5. Through the fall of the dictatorship, we got back the freedom to speak. We can breathe freely. This was the result of a long movement. For the past 15 years, BNP and other political parties have been persecuted, disappeared and murdered. Our leaders and activists could not sleep at home.
This member of the BNP standing committee said, today an attempt has been made to erase the name of martyred Ziaur Rahman from history. A monstrous government did not let two generations know the name of Ziaur Rahman. Bangabandhu did so much, but his daughter (Sheikh Hasina) has taken the name of Sheikh Mujib to the bottom at once.
Selima Rahman said, Martyred President Ziaur Rahman made Shishu Academy for children. He made Shishu Park. There is nothing that he did not do for children. Ziaur Rahman was the biggest reformer of women empowerment. Today there is no Shishu Park. There is no Shishu Academy. Today we have worked with other people's culture in every field. A monstrous government has taken away everything including the voting rights and fundamental rights of the people of the country with the help of neighboring country India to maintain its own power.
The award distribution ceremony of the discussion and painting competition, chaired by Kalamkoli President Golam Quader and moderated by General Secretary Azizul Haque Sohag, was also attended by BNP Chairperson's Advisory Council member Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua, BNP National Executive Committee member Abu Naser Md. Rahmatullah, Professor Dr. Abdul Halim, Mashiur Rahman Akon, and others.
