Chief Adviser calls for increased investment in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Chief Adviser to the interim government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has urged foreign investors to invest more in Bangladesh.

He said, ‘Bangladesh has simplified the investment process and is ready to increase international business and investment in an improved investment environment.’

The Chief Adviser said this in a meeting with the CEOs of some of the world’s leading investment institutions on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum conference in Davos, Switzerland.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters this information, quoting Professor Yunus.

He said, ‘We always say that Bangladesh is ready for large-scale investment.’

Shafiqul Alam said, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum annual conference, Dr. Yunus has met with several heads of government and state and executives of various world-renowned companies. There, he highlighted the investment-friendly environment in Bangladesh and invited them to invest.

Shafiqul Alam said, an investment-friendly environment has been created in Bangladesh. The capacity of Chattagram Port has been increased. The Chief Adviser is regularly talking to investors from different countries including the US, Turkey, and China and inviting them to invest.

The Press Secretary also said that Bangladesh has the potential to become an export hub due to its large young population.

Meanwhile, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulaiman, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of port operator DP World, met Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus on Thursday morning (Davos time) and discussed various issues of mutual interest.

Dr. Yunus is spending his third busy day at the World Economic Forum's annual meeting today. He arrived in Davos, Switzerland on January 21.
