Earthquake felt in different parts of the country

Dhaka: An earthquake was felt in different parts of the country, including the capital. Its magnitude was 5.1 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake was felt at around 1:26 am on Thursday (January 23).

Many people felt the strong tremors while they were in bed at that time though it did not last long.

The earthquake and volcanology website Volcano Discovery reported that the earthquake originated in Myanmar. It occurred at a depth of 112 kilometers. The earthquake had a magnitude of 5.1.

Volcano Discovery also reported that there were two tremors. However, the second time its intensity was less. The first tremor lasted for 2 to 3 seconds. Everything started shaking. A few seconds later, a second tremor occurred.

It is known that earthquakes have occurred in several other parts of the country, including Sylhet, Sherpur, Feni. No immediate reports of damage or casualties were reported.

A person named Jakariya Rokon wrote on Facebook, 'How strong was the earthquake? It was so intense, yet it was right in front of our eyes. Terrifying!'

It has also caused tremors in several states in Myanmar and India.
