Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to remove Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, from the post of Regional Director of the World Health Organization.
The letter was sent on Sunday (January 19).
On January 15, the ACC decided to investigate Saima Wazed Putul for being appointed as the Regional Director of the World Health Organization through corruption.
ACC Director General (Prevention) Md. Akhter Hossain told the media that former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has used her power unethically to make her daughter Saima Wazed Putul the Regional Director of the WHO despite her lack of qualifications to be the Regional Director for Southeast Asia. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate after verifying the initial information on this allegation.
