Adviser Mahfuz Alam said that the interim government has called an all-party meeting on Thursday (January 16) to discuss the declaration of the July mass uprising. After this meeting, details will be given on what will be in the July declaration.
He said these things at a press conference on contemporary issues at the Foreign Service Academy on Tuesday (January 14).
Adviser Mahfuz said that BNP, Jamaat and all other uprising forces agree on the July declaration. But they could not agree on what will be in the declaration. The government will hold a dialogue with all political parties and factions on this issue next Thursday. He expressed hope that they will definitely reach an agreement there.
At that time, in response to a question about the dialogue with the Jatiya Party and the left parties, he further said, the position of the Jatiya Party in the political field is clear to us. So far, we have not called them for any meeting. Therefore, we do not think it is reasonable to talk to them about the declaration. And there are many organizations among the left parties, but talks have been held with the parties that directly supported the mass uprising, and more will be done.
On the question of whether the July Declaration will be written into the constitution, Mahfuz Alam said, "The government is reviewing and discussing the preparation of a legal document based on this declaration. It was supposed to happen earlier, but we cannot do it before the people come. Let the people come first, and then we will do it together. The issue of inclusion in the constitution will definitely depend on everything starting from the Constituent Assembly and the next constitutional amendment. Whoever gets this responsibility or if we get this responsibility, if the people give it to us - we will do it. Whoever wins the next election will be the force of the mass uprising. They will go to the people holding this declaration.
Earlier, on December 31, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee wanted to publish the declaration of the July Mass Uprising at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka. Various discussions were generated in the country's political arena regarding this. The question arose, why was the issue of the declaration suddenly brought to the fore and what its impact could be. The press wing of the interim government then said that the government was not involved in this initiative. However, in an emergency press briefing on the night of December 30, the press secretary of the chief adviser, Shafiqul Alam, said that an initiative has been taken to prepare a declaration of the July mass uprising based on national consensus.
