The Detective Police (DB) has arrested Sramik League leader Tufan Sarkar, who is being discussed in Bogura. He was arrested from his house in Chaksutrapur Kasaipara in Bogura town on Monday night.
Police Inspector Iqbal Bahar of DB confirmed this information on Tuesday (December 24) morning.
Arrested Sramik League leader Tufan Sarkar is the son of Mujibur Rahman of Chaksutrapur Kasaipara in Bogura town. He is the brother of former municipal councilor Abdul Matin Sarkar, a controversial Jubo League leader in Bogura town.
Tufan Sarkar was the convener of the Town Sramik League. There are 14 cases against him, including murder, rape, and torture on women. Tufan was arrested in 2017 in a student rape case. He was in hiding after being accused in multiple murder cases after the student uprising on August 5.
Police Inspector Iqbal Bahar said that after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, there are 14 cases against him under various laws, including murder. In addition, Tufan Sarkar is a defendant sentenced to 13 years in an ACC case.
He also said that preparations are underway to send the arrested Tufan Sarkar to court.
