The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested former Begum Rokeya University (BRU) proctor Shariful Islam, an accused in the murder case of Abu Sayeed, who was shot dead by police in Rangpur during the anti-discrimination student movement.
He was arrested from the Alamnagar area of the city on Monday (November 18) night.
PBI Rangpur Superintendent of Police ABM Zakir Hossain confirmed the matter. He said that former University proctor Shariful Islam, one of the accused in the murder case of Abu Sayeed, who was shot dead by police at the gate of Begum Rokeya University on July 16, has been arrested. He is accused of giving instructions to the police to shoot while present at the scene.
It is learnt that he will be taken to court at 12 noon on Tuesday (November 19).
