Bad news for illegal Bangladeshis in war-torn Lebanon

Due to the ongoing war situation, illegal Bangladeshi workers willing to return home voluntarily from Lebanon will have to return with a fine.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut announced this information in an emergency notification on Sunday (October 13).

According to the embassy, Bangladeshi workers who are irregular expatriates in Lebanon have to pay necessary service charges and fines at the General Security Office (Amalnama) of that country to collect exit visas and complete other procedures, which are time-consuming.

Also informed that the Bangladesh Embassy is continuing necessary communication with all relevant authorities including the General Security Office in this regard. After completing all the procedures, sending the Lebanese expatriate irregular workers to the country will be announced on the embassy's Facebook page at the appropriate time.

Among the expatriate workers willing to voluntarily return to the country due to the ongoing war situation in Lebanon who have completed and submitted the form prescribed by the Embassy, those who are –

A. Have original passport with validity but no Akama validity or Akama has not been collected;

b. Have original passport but expired;

c. No original passport, only photocopy;

d. Have only BMET or Man Power Card and

e. No Passport or Akama or BMET or Man Power Card, only National Identity Card or Birth

Certificate; such persons are considered irregular workers in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Beirut Embassy has published the list of 119 expatriates who are interested in returning to the country in the first phase. They have been asked to submit the necessary documents to the embassy.
